The concert celebrated Africa Day and showcased music from across the continent, including proudly SA music which celebrated 20 years of democracy. The concert featured various aspects and performances, the concert kicked off with the Diaz Primary School choir, NMMU students who were participants in this year’s annual student concert namely Siphosethu Yekeni, Oliver Hartley and Zanele Maphaphu, they performed vocal and dance items alongside Miranda Ncwane member of TwoTone Band.

The diverse programme included music from Zahara, Mango Groove, Mi Casa, Brenda Fassie, MiCasa and Vusi Mahlasela. Tributes to other African countries' icons of song such as Angelique Kidjo and evergreen Swahili song 'Malaika' were also included.

This years concert proved to be an insightful journey into the history of our music and its legends.
