2017 Staff Concert

The NMMU Arts, Culture and Heritage Department hosted the annual Staff Concert on 18 May 2017 at the South Campus Auditorium from 13H00 to 14h00. The theme of this year`s staff concert was “The best from the past”.

NMMU Arts, Culture and Heritage Department in conjunction with the NMMU Birdstreet Art Gallery, CANRAD and School of Music, Art & Design hosted Cedric Nunn’s latest photographic exhibition titled Unsettled One Hundred Years War of Resistance by Xhosa against Boer and British. The exhibition was launched on 27 May 2017 and will be on display until 15 June 2017.

The Department of Arts and Culture in conjunction with the Nelson Mandela Foundation hosted the Between States of Emergency Exhibition at the Birdstreet Art Gallery on 19 April 2017 from 18H00 to 20H00.

 

BKO Quintet Concert

The BKO Quintet Concert will perform on Sunday, 26 March at 6pm.

The Department of Arts & Culture hosted the annual Campus Life Concert on 24 March 2017 at the South Campus Indoor Sports Centre from 18H00 to 21H30.

Graduate Exhibition

The School of Music, Art and Design invites you to the opening of the NMMU Masters Graduate Exhibition, showcasing the bodies of work from the following Masters students.

NMMU Cheerleaders bring back the trophy for a third consecutive win. The team took the championship title for the third year in a row, after giving their all to bring back the gold once more for the 2017 title. They are ecstatic and it has shown them that hard work really does pay off, and that you can achieve anything you set your mind to it.

The South African Cultural Observatory is the Department of Arts & Culture’s new national public research entity.

TAAL CHAKRA unites 3 dynamic soloists who have merged their talents in a unique exposition of Shastriya Sangeet. Dr. Kanada Narahari (Sitar), Shri Revash Maharaj (Tabla) & Shri Manesh Maharaj (Kathak) offer rasikas a rare experience of rhythm, melody and dance.
Umjuxuzo Alive

The NMMU Department of Arts & Culture in partnership with the Port Elizabeth Opera House, brings you the production featuring its very own talented NMMU students “Umjuxuzo Alive.”

The Department of Arts & Culture hosted the annual Staff Concert on 23 May 2016 at the South Campus Auditorium from 13H00 to 14h00.

The Department of Arts & Culture in conjunction with the Faculty of Education hosted a two day Drama, Poetry and Musical festival on 10 and 11 September 2015 at the Goldfields Auditorium North Campus.

The Department of Arts & Culture in collaboration with the city of PE creatives organized a photographic exhibition at Missionvale Campus titled Diversity through- the Insta–lens.

The run of poetry workshops began on the 9th of May 2014. These are being hosted with the well renowned Dr Brian Walter, a published poet and author,

The Arts and Culture Department from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University kick started the Campus life festival with a bang, by hosting their annual student concert at the Vodacom Indoor Sport Centre on the south campus last night (20 February 2013).
